Purpose Rulers
Helpful tips for using your general purpose
rulers
● Unique three color printing: Black = 1"
and 1/2", Teal = 1/4" and Magenta = 1/8".
● Fine-line printing for accurate measurements and cutting.
● Convenient 45° and 60° markings for triangles, diamonds,
hexagons and bias cutting.
To cut bias binding:
● Align 45° ruler marking with bottom edge of fabric and cut
strips to desired width. (Image 1)

To cut 60° diamonds:
● Cut fabric in strips to desired width making sure to include
1/2" seam allowance.
● Place fabric strip on cutting mat.
● Align 60° line of ruler on bottom edge of fabric. (Image
2)
● Cut off end piece and discard.
● Locate ruler markings for desired width of diamond (same width
as strips) and align with cut 60° cut edge of fabric. (Image 3)
● Cut diamonds, continuing across strip as needed.
Use 45° marking in place of 60° marking
to create 45° diamonds.
To cut hexagons:
● Following instructions for diamonds, cut 60° diamonds to
desired size making sure to include 1/2" seam allowance.
● Divide unfinished size in half and locate that same marking on
ruler.
● Place ruler on diamond so markings run through center of the
two short diamond points and cut off excess. (Images 4 and 5)
