Quilting Glossary:
RST = Right sides together
RSU = Right sides up
WOF = Width of fabric
Crosswise = Follow grain; fold fabric selvage to selvage and
cut across fold.
All cutting measurements include ¼” seam allowance.
Sew in ¼” seam allowance.
Follow order of the steps as listed under each fabric.

Cutting Directions (Cut fabric crosswise unless stated)
Fabric A (red)
Cut (3) strips, 3” wide, sub-cut into (24) 3” x 5 1/2” rectangles.
Cut (4) strips 2 ½” wide for inner border.
Fabric B (blue)
Cut (1) strip 5 ½” wide, sub-cut into (6) 5 ½” squares.
Cut (6) strips 2 ½” wide for binding.
Fabric C (purple)
Cut (6) strips 4 ½” wide for outer border.
Fabric D (yellow)
Cut (2) strips 3” wide, sub-cut into (24) 3” squares. Making the Setting Blocks
(Puss in the Corner)
With RST stitch a yellow square to both ends of red rectangles. (Make 12)
Press seams toward red center.
With RST stitch a red rectangle to each side of a blue square. (Make 6)
Press seams toward red sides.
With RST stitch pieced red/yellow sets to top and bottom of pieced blue/red
middles, matching intersections. (Make 6)
Press seams toward top and bottom of block.
Assembling the Quilt Top
Following quilt layout diagram, piece rows using setting blocks. Press seams
toward setting blocks. Attach row one to row two. Press seam toward row
one. Attach row three to row four. Press seam toward row three. Attach
row two to row three. Press seam toward row two. Stitch inner border (red)
to the both sides of pieced quilt center. Press seams toward border. Trim
off excess length. Stitch inner border (red) to top and bottom of pieced
quilt center. Press seams toward border. Trim off excess length. Sew outer
border (purple) to top and bottom of inner border (red). Press seams toward
outer border. Trim off excess length. Stitch together (2) purple strips,
end to end, to get the length needed for the side outer borders. Sew pieced
outer border to both sides of inner border (red). Press seams toward outer
border. Trim off excess length. Finishing
Layer quilt top, batting and backing. Quilt as desired. Bind. For
