Quilting Glossary:
RST = Right sides together
RSU = Right sides up
WOF = Width of fabric
Crosswise = Follow grain; fold fabric selvage to selvage and
cut across fold.
All cutting measurements include ¼” seam allowance.
Sew in ¼” seam allowance.

Fabric A (green) 1 yard
Fabric B (rust) 1 3/8 yards
Fabric C (purple) 5/8 yard
Fabric D (paisley) 2 yards
Backing Fabric 4 2/3 yards Cutting Instructions (Cut fabric crosswise unless stated)
Fabric A (green)
Cut (5) strips 3” wide, sub-cut into (17) 3” x 10 ½” rectangles for sashing.
Cut (6) strips 3” wide for inner border.
Fabric B (rust)
Cut (6) strips 6 ½” wide for middle border.
Cut (1) strip 3” wide, sub-cut into (6) 3” squares for sashing squares.
Fabric C (purple)
Cut (8) strips 2 ½” wide for binding.
Fabric D (paisley)
Cut (4) strips 7 ½” wide for outer border lengthwise. Sewing Horizontal Sashes
Lay out purchased blocks according to quilt layout diagram.
Stitch 1 sashing strip (green) to the top side of the bottom nine purchased
quilt blocks (follow quilt layout diagram). Press seams toward the sashing.
Following quilt layout diagram, stitch purchased quilt blocks with sashing
strips attached into (3) vertical rows of 3 blocks each. Stitch remaining
3 blocks to top of each pieced 3 block set.
Stitch (1) 3” setting square (rust) to the end of (6) of the remaining
(8) sashing strips. Press seams towards the rust setting squares. To make vertical sashing strip sets, sew 3 sashing strips with setting squares
together. Sew remaining sashing strip to one end. (Make 2)
Stitch the vertical sashing strips between the rows. Follow the quilt layout
diagram. Press seams away from the blocks. Attaching Borders
Sew inner border (green) to both top and bottom of pieced quilt center. Press
seams toward border. Trim off excess length. Sew (2) green strips together,
end to end, for side borders. Sew pieced inner border (green) to both sides
of pieced quilt center. Press seam towards border. Trim off excess length.
Sew center border (rust) to top and bottom of inner border (green).
Sew (2) rust strips together, end to end, for both side borders. Sew pieced
center border (rust) to both sides of inner border (green). Press seams toward
border. Trim off excess length.
Attach outer border (paisley) to both sides of center border first, then
to the top and bottom borders next. Press seams towards outer border. Trim
off excess. Finishing
Layer quilt top, batting and backing. Quilt as desired. Bind. For quilting
